After the world première of his second string quartet in Darmstadt 1963, Michael v. Biel instantly conquered the stage of the avantgarde music scene. In addition to his work as composer he soon also turned to painting. After studying with Joseph Beuys he produced an oevre of drawings and had numerous solo exhibitions.

Prompted by WILHELM BRUCK and THEODOR ROSS Michael v. Biel has written cycles for the DUO since 1974.
